Grayton

Grayton Beach, established in the late 19th century, was the first community set up in the Beaches of South Walton, Florida. Grayton Beach is best known for its “small cozy town” character; narrow tree-lined streets, welcoming people, trendy art galleries, and authentic old wooden homes surrounded by pine and oak trees. The Beach also features a general store, as well as numerous antique and specialty shops. The most-frequented indoor destination at Grayton Beach, however, is the infamous Red Bar. This bar is a favorite with friends and family and is well-known for its eclectic décor, live jazz music, outstanding cocktails, and delicious food.

The unparalleled scenic beauty of the Grayton Beach State Park, which swathes the Gulf of Mexico and a large part of the Western Lake, attracts millions of visitors to the Beach every year. The Grayton Beach area also features a hiking trail, which circles the sand dunes, skirts the coastal dune lake, and meanders through a dense scrub hammock. The public dock on the spectacular Western Lake also offers great opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. Grayton Beach State Park is also an ideal place for an exciting camping adventure. Other recreational activities offered at the Grayton Beach include fresh water fishing, salt water fishing, swimming, biking, wildlife viewing, bird watching, and picnicking. A number of shorebirds and nesting sea turtles can also be spotted on the beach.

Grayton Beach, featuring pristine landscapes, self-guided nature trails, camping sites, and numerous picnic areas, can undoubtedly be considered as the “Best Beach in the U. S.”. It is also known for its casual and fine dining restaurants, which offer a wide variety, ranging from the laid back atmosphere of the Red Bar to the fine dining experience of Criolla’s. The major shopping areas at Grayton Beach include Uptown Grayton Circle, Grayton Center, Shops of Grayton, and Patrones Hideaway. Grayton Beach has several accommodations to choose from, including the charming Hibiscus Coffee and Guest House, a bed and breakfast, beach homes, cottages and condominiums.
