Discovery Cove

Discovery Cove, a theme park situated just next to SeaWorld Orlando, is owned and operated by the Busch Entertainment Corporation. The park offers guests a unique opportunity to interact with a variety of marine animals, including the dolphins, stingrays, and tropical fish, as well as land mammals and several exotic species of birds. It also allows guests to swim with the very friendly bottlenose dolphins. Discovery Cove is one of the most-frequented tourist attractions in Orlando, hosting over 1000 guests at any given time of the day. It differs from the other theme parks in the United States in both admission price and the fact that advance reservations are required for admission. A Discovery Cove admission, worth $280, includes a complimentary lunch, equipment rental, and a free ticket to either Busch Gardens Tampa Bay or SeaWorld Orlando.

The newest attraction at the Discovery Cove is an exciting program called “Twilight Discovery”, which also offers gourmet dinner and alcoholic beverages. The various park attractions include a spectacular heated “Tropical River’ that encircles the park; a re-creation of a ‘coral reef’ that gives visitors a unique opportunity to swim with thousands of distinct marine creatures, such as 8-foot (2.4-m) wide sting rays; a wide array of plant life; the Dolphin Lagoon, a large pool for dolphins; a Ray Lagoon; and an aviary. The Park’s Aviary is home to a number of parrots, toucans, and other exotic bird species. This amazing, interactive tropical adventure park is one of the smallest parks in Orlando, but is counted among the top-rated parks in Florida owing to the world-class family entertainment that it offers. Six to eight hours are needed to explore all of the animal activities at the Discovery Cove. Discovery Cove offers a serene retreat from the usual theme park frenzy and is a ‘must-see’ for all those who visit Orlando.
