Hubbs SeaWorld Research Institute

hubbs seaworld research institute

Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute, situated at the Sea Harbor Drive in Orlando, Florida, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that functions independently. It was established nearly 40 years ago by the founders of SeaWorld, Inc. HSWRI, therefore, enjoys an exclusive partnership with SeaWorld and its parent companies, Anheuser Busch and the Busch Entertainment Corporation. The scientists at HSWRI conduct research to help the wild populations and the endangered species, and have free access to the internationally acclaimed zoological collections of Busch Gardens and SeaWorld.

HSWRI is often confused with SeaWorld by many people as the former shares the globally recognized ‘SeaWorld’ name. As scientific research is an integral part of Sea World’s mission, SeaWorld sponsors HSWRI by providing annual donations and state-of-art research facilities at SeaWorld Orlando. The Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute aims at conserving the ecological integrity of oceans as a foundation for fisheries, public recreation and tourism, and marine based economies, and thereby ensuring a healthy environment for the future generations. Situated next to the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, the research center of HSWRI can be easily accessed.
