“Penguin Encounter” is one of the major animal exhibits at SeaWorld. This icy habitat is home to over 200 puffins and penguins. It features 4 major penguin species: Gentoo, Rock-hopper, King, and Chinstrap. Nearly 6000 pounds (2.7 tonnes) of snow fall inside this naturalistic habitat daily, making the air frosty at 30 degrees and the water icy at 45 degrees. This penguin habitat is evocative of the prehistoric Antarctic with its rock-strewn cliffs and icy waters.
This snowy wonderland features a 120-foot (37-m) long moving walkway on which the guests can stand or walk, and watch the mischievous birds prance both above, and under, the water. The ‘Penguin Encounter’ gives visitors a unique opportunity to watch the penguins standing, playing, grooming, and swimming in a stimulated natural habitat. This natural animal exhibit is one of the most-frequented exhibits at SeaWorld and is truly worthwhile.
