The Incredible Hulk Coaster, situated at the Marvel Super Hero Island in the Universal’s Island of Adventure theme park in Orlando, Florida, is a steel roller coaster named after the famous comic book super hero, the Hulk. This roller coaster is one-of-its-kind as it features a launch lift hill instead of the commonly used conventional chain lifts. When the Incredible Hulk Coaster was first inaugurated, it featured the tallest cobra roll in the world. Before speeding through a number of spine chilling inversions, the train accelerates to 40 mph (18 m/s) in just 2 seconds!
Produced by Bolliger & Mabillard, the Incredible Hulk Coaster was featured under the fictitious name, ‘Terror Incognita”, at the commencement of the 1999 film House on Haunted Hill. Before the ride starts, the guests are led into the lab of Bruce Banner, where the story of Hulk is shown on a number of televisions. While ambling through the lab, guests can also observe a number of items, including the Gamma Core, the generator, and the towers of power. Finally, the guests reach the lift hill. Once they enter the Project Gamma tube, they can hear Bruce Banner stating about yet another malfunction in the machine!
Within no time, the riders are sent through a Zero-g-roll. The train accelerates to 40 mph in merely 2 seconds, traverse the cobra roll, and drops down a 105-foot (32-m) near-vertical drop. By the time the train shoots up again and enters a tunnel full of mist, its speed reaches nearly 60-67 mph. The train then circles around the gamma tube and after another loop, slows down by a brake. Thereafter, it is sent down another hill to a corkscrew. Finally, riders travel sideways through a camera area and then to the ride’s closing after a double helix. The Incredible Hulk Coaster ride features two bottomless trenches and seven spine-chilling inversions, and lasts for nearly 2 minutes and 15 seconds. It launches the riders to an approximate height of 150 feet (45 m) and offers a lot of fun and excitement. This enthralling ride is certainly not to be missed.
