Shrek 4-D
Shrek 4-D, a short ride/film featured at Production Central in Universal Studios Florida, is one of the most popular attractions in the park. The guests are directed to a dungeon-like room provided with two huge television screens on either side. The announcement that Lord Farquaad has kidnapped Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, and the Gingerbread Man is then made on the screen. Following a brief tutorial from the ride operator, the cinema doors are unlocked and the guests are invited to take their respective seats.
Immediately after the first Shrek film, the short film is presented in which the spirit of Lord Farquaad kidnaps Princess Fiona. Now, it is up to Shrek and Donkey to rescue her. The animated film is 3-D but the ride is actually a 4-D film as it is designed to make the audience feel what they are watching. Mist, movable seats, air jets, and rubber tubing are all used to stimulate special effects, such as air and ‘creepy crawlies’.
The DVD version of the film, named Shrek 3-D, included a preview of Shrek 2. The film was also featured as ‘Shrek’s Never before Seen Adventure’ on Nickelodeon. Besides, a comic adaptation of the film was published by Dark Horse Publications as issue # 1 of the Shrek comic book. Shrek 4-D offers a lot of fun and excitement and is certainly not to be missed.
