Universal Orlando Resort, situated in Orlando, Florida, is the largest property owned by the Universal Studios Theme Parks. This theme park resort is jointly operated by NBC Universal and the Blackstone Group, and is considered to be the second largest resort in Orlando after the Walt Disney World Resort. It was established on June 7, 1990, when the original Universal Studios Florida was inaugurated. The park was later expanded in 1999. Today, the Universal Orlando Resort features two major theme parks, namely Universal Studios Florida and the Islands of Adventure; Universal City Walk, a night-time entertainment destination; and three luxury Loews Hotels, the Royal pacific Hotel, the Portofino Bay Hotel, and the Hard Rock Hotel.

All the three hotels in the Universal Orlando Resort have the AAA Four Diamond rating. The guests who are staying at these official hotels are offered free water taxi and shuttle bus service to the Universal Orlando theme parks. Moreover, the room keys of these hotels serve as the ‘Express Pass’, facilitating the guests to bypass the Stand-by line at any theme-park attraction. Express Passes can also be obtained at an additional cost by those who are not staying at the hotel.

The Universal CityWalk is considered to be the most happening place in Orlando. It features a number of nightclubs, restaurants, shops, and a 20-screen AMC Universal Cineplex. Universal Studios Florida, on the other hand, is a popular theme park which allows the visitors “Ride the Movies”. This theme park was established on June 7, 1990 with an aim of making the guests feel like they are in a movie set with rides, most of which are inspired by popular films. The six major theme areas at the Universal Studios Orlando include Production Central, New York, Hollywood, San Francisco/Amity, Kid Zone, and World Expo.

Universal’s Islands of Adventure, established in May 1999, is yet another major theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort. It features six ‘islands’- Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, Seuss Landing, and the Lost Continent-each based on a different theme. The exploration journey to these six islands begins at the magnificent ‘Port of Entry’, which marks the main entrance of the Park. Another major attraction at the Universal Orlando Resort is the ‘Halloween Horror Nights’, one of the largest Halloween events in the U. S. This event is held annually at the Universal Studios Florida since 1991-2001.
