DINOSAUR

DINOSAUR is one of the most popular thrill rides located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The guests are required to wind their way through the entrance of the Dino Institute, past photos, fossils, and lab notes. The Dino Institute was established to find out the mysteries of the past. Staffed by scientists and students, this queue area features a number of impressive exhibits and displays, as well as a voice over introduction by Bill Nye, the Science Guy. This attraction takes the guests nearly 65 million years back to the Cretaceous Period in search of an Iguanodon dinosaur.

The waiting area also features a number of multimedia shows, elucidating how scientists doubt a fiery asteroid smashed into the earth and demolished all known life forms. As the visitors amble through the turnstiles into the Briefing Room of the Institute, a live video conference hosted by Dr. Helen Marsh introduces them to the Time Rover, the transportation vehicle. In the loading area, the visitors are invited to board the 12 passenger, all-terrain vehicle. The time traveler races through a meteor shower and comes head to head with some gigantic dinosaurs, such as Carnotaurus. Finally, the vehicle dips and swerves, searching for the Iguanodon, when the homing signal attaches to the Iguanodon. Soon after, a meteor hits the earth and the force of its impact creates a terrific vacuum, sucking everything forward. The passengers somehow survive and are rescued.

DINOSAUR is a turbulent ride, suitable for all ages. However, as it is very dark with lots of scary dinosaurs, flashing lights, and loud noises, it can be scary for young kids and perhaps a few adults as well. The minimum height requirement for this ride is 40 inches (1016 mm). Guests can also use their FASTPASS, which is made available to all park guests for free. The ride lasts for just 3 minutes. Child Swap facility is also available at this attraction. Formerly known as the Countdown to Extinction, DINOSAUR features the largest audio-animatronic figures created to date and is certainly not to be missed.
