Magic Kingdom

magic kingdom

The Magic Kingdom, the most-visited theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort, is owned and operated by the Walt Disney Company. Established on October 1, 1971, it was the first park to be built on the WDW resort. It attracted a total of 17 million visitors in the year 2007 and was thenceforth designated the most-visited park in the world. Designed and constructed by WED Enterprises, the park’s major attractions and the layout are more or less similar to those of the Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. The Magic Kingdom is characterized by its iconic structure of Cinderella Castle. The bronze statue of Roy O. Disney sitting with Minnie Mouse near the park’s entrance and the ‘Partners Statue’ of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse in front of the Castle are truly worth noticing.

The visiting guests can choose between a ferry boat and a monorail to reach the Magic Kingdom. The Transportation and Ticket Center, located on the opposite side of the man-made Seven Seas Lagoon, sells tickets as well as offers transportation connections throughout the resort. It also features the Magic Kingdom’s pet-boarding kennel and an elegant gift shop. The Park encompasses nearly 107 acres () of land, featuring as many as 48 fascinating attractions in seven themed ‘lands’, including the Main Street U.S.A., Adventure Land, Frontier Land, Tomorrow Land, Liberty Square, Fantasy Land, and the Mickey’s Toontown Fair. The Walt Disney World Railroad, which runs along the boundaries of the Park, makes stops at Frontier Land, Main Street, and Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

The Main Street at Walt Disney World feature several stylistic influences from around the country, such as Missouri and New England. The buildings in the “four corners” area in the middle of the Main Street represent a distinct architectural style. The main attractions in the area include the Exposition Hall, a real working barber shop, Tony’s Town Square, the Plaza Restaurant, and Casey’s Corner. The Emporium, on the other hand, features a wide array of Disney Souvenirs, including collectible pins, Mickey-ears hats, and plush toys. Adventure Land depicts the enigma of discovering foreign lands. It is designed to mimic the remote jungles in the Middle East, Asia, South America, South Pacific, and Africa. An extension of the Adventure Land resembles the Caribbean Square, and features a number of popular rides, such as Jungle Cruise and the Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise.

The classic attractions at Frontier Land include the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Country Bear Jamboree, and the Tom Sawyer Island. Liberty Square, home to the Hall of Presidents and the Haunted Mansion, is themed on an American Revolutionary town. The main rides and attractions at the Fantasy Land include Peter Pan’s Flight, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Mickey’s Philar Magic, Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel, and Snow White’s Scary Adventures. Tomorrow land is designed to resemble an intergalactic convention center, while Mickey’s Toontown Fair is home to Mickey’s Country House, Minnie’s Country House, Goofy’s Barnstormer, and Donald’s Boat. Magic Kingdom is a perfect holiday destination and is truly worth a visit.
