Pirates of the Caribbean

pirates of the caribbean

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, situated in the Caribbean Plaza in Adventure Land, is one of the most-frequented attractions in the Magic Kingdom theme park. It was established in the Walt Disney World Resort on December 15, 1973, and was designed to resemble the 18th century West Indies. This exciting ride takes the guests back in time, when Spain brought gold from the New World back home and Pirates ruled the waters. The theme inside the magnificent queuing area is worth noticing. The long and winding walkway to the boats meanders through a cave where the guests can hear the sounds of cannon fire off in the distance.

In the loading area, the guests are invited to board the 15-passenger boats. As the loaded boats fall down a small drop 14 feet (4.3 m), the riders find themselves amidst a Caribbean city’s port, which is under attack by a pirate frigate. A group of rowdy pirates in search of treasure and adventure can be seen around the river bend. Throughout this 8 ½ minute ride, the pirates are seen chasing the women, women chasing the pirates, the pirates being put into the jail, and finally, the drunken pirates being surrounded by gold.

The ‘Pirates of Caribbean’ features as many as 125 Audio-Animatronic figures, including 60 animals & birds and 65 pirates. The ride exits into the Pirate Bazaar, where one can find a large variety of Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise. The well-frequented restaurants located nearby include the El Pirata Y El Perico Restaurante, the Pecos Bill Café, the Sunshine Tree Terrace, and the Aloha Isle. This attraction offers a larger-than-life pirate adventure featuring cannon blasts, gun shots, and blazing buildings, all set to pirates partying and marauding while accompanied by "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)", a song composed by Xavier Atencio and George Bruns, and is truly worthwhile.
