Pleasure Island

pleasure island

Pleasure Island, situated in the Downtown Disney shopping, dining, and entertainment district, is the most popular section of themed nightclubs in the Walt Disney World Resort. It was established on May 1, 1989. According to the legend created by Walt Disney Imagineering, the present-day nightclubs on the island were formerly home to Meriwether Pleasure’s shipping company. After a great storm ruined the business, Mr. Pleasure disappeared and the warehouses were renovated into nightclubs.

The most-frequented nightclub on the Pleasure Island is the Comedy Warehouse, which was formerly known for its parody show known as “Forbidden Disney”. At present, it features an improved comedy troupe. Adventurers Club, on the other hand, is a 1930s style British explorers’ club featuring a staff of ostentatious characters. Pleasure Island is also home to a number of other popular attractions, including the Mannequins Dance Palace, a techno-trance dance club; STRAX, a 1970s and 1980s themed dance club; Motion, a popular dance club featuring the top 40 music videos; BET Soundstage Club, an R & B and hip-hop dance club owned and operated by the Black Entertainment Television; and Neon Armadillo, a club best known for its live country music bands.

Pleasure Island also features a number of restaurants and stores, including the Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant, owned and operated by the Great Irish Pubs Florida; Merriweather’s Market; Orlando-Harley Davidson, a ‘gear shop’ operated by Orlando’s Harley-Davidson franchiser; Curl by Sammy Duvall; Superstar Studios; and Fuego by Sosa Cigars. The major landmarks and popular attractions situated close to the Pleasure Island include the Fulton’s Crab House, Portobello Yacht Club, Planet Hollywood, and the AMC Theaters. Pleasure Island has a lot of fun and excitement in store for all ages and is truly worthwhile.
