Splash Mountain, located at the west end of Frontier land in the Magic Kingdom theme park of the Walt Disney World Resort, is an archetypal Disney attraction, featuring a fantastic theme, laughs, audio-animatronics, thrills, excitement, and a happy ending. It was officially dedicated on July 17, 1992. It is themed after the Walt Disney’s 1946 classic “Song of the South” and shows the Crafty Brer Rabbit being pursued by the Brer Fox and the Brer Bear through forests and swamps, all the way to the magnificent Laughing Place. The major attractions situated near the Splash Mountain include the Pecos Bill’s restaurant and the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

The long queue leads the guests to the loading zone inside Chickapin Hill, where they board an 8-passenger log, hollowed out by sharp-toothed beavers. This vehicle takes the riders on an 11 minute journey along the flume. Splash Mountain is the most popular attractions in the Magic Kingdom and is designated a FASTPASS attraction. It is, therefore, strongly recommended for all those who possess a FASTPASS. During the ride, the riders encounter 5 major drops and 3 lifts. The ride also features a 5-story drop with the maximum descent speed of 40 mph. Splash Mountain features as many as 65 Audio-Animatronics and also, the largest animated prop in the finale. Its Showboat, 22 ft (6.7 m) high and 36 ft (10.97 m) wide, rock back and forth as 12 audio-animatronics sing and dance to “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”.

The ride exits into the Brer Rabbit’s house, a great place for kids to play. Guests can also purchase their photos, taken during the ride, at Splashdown Photos. Guests can also choose to collect their photos as a part of the Disney Package Delivery. One can watch family and friends plummet down Chickapin Hill from the nearby bridge. This bridge is a great place to take photographs. Splash Mountain logo merchandise along with Tigger and Pooh items can be obtained at the whimsically outfitted Briar Patch store.
