The Jungle Cruise

the jungle cruise

The Jungle Cruise, situated in Adventure Land, just beyond the Swiss Family Tree-house, is the best way to travel on some of the most exotic rivers of the world and view authentic, ancient ruins and realistic Audio-Animatronic animals. Located across the Enchanted Tiki Room, the Jungle Cruise is one of the most popular attractions in the Magic Kingdom theme park. The deceivingly long queue meanders back and forth through the last posts of the offices of the Jungle Cruise. The guests then board the canopied launches that are themed after the boat in the movie “The African Queen”, which is whimsically named as ‘Amazon Annie’, ‘Irrawaddy Irma’, and the ‘Bomokandi Bertha’.

As the guests leave the dock in their respective launches, the skipper directs them through the dangerous waters of the four rivers, including the Amazon in South America; the Mekong River in Cambodia in Southeast Asia; the Nile in Egypt; and the Congo in Africa. On the way, the guests encounter a number of audio-animatronic animals and natives, including the shrunken head salesmen, fuming hippos, a group of lions enjoying their meal, and a herd of elephants bathing in the Elephant Pool. The passengers also get soaked during this 9-minute excursion as they pass through a waterfall and a number of spraying fountains. The cruise concludes with awful jokes and puns from the skipper, and the guests get off at the same point where they started.

The Shrunken Ned’s Junior Jungle Boats, located adjacent to the Jungle Cruise, offer remote-controlled, coin-operated replicas of the boats sailing on the Jungle Cruise. The Jungle Cruise is a FASTPASS attraction. Those who fear the dark or are claustrophobic are advised not to board the launch as the attraction has a very dark patch, during which the passengers cruise through a dark cave. The Jungle Cruise attraction opens at 10 am everyday and is certainly not to be missed!
