Kalapaki Beach, one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in Kauai, is situated near Nawiliwili Harbor in Lihue. Kalapaki Beach faces the Beach Club, Kauai Marriott Resort, and the Kauai Lagoons championship golf course. The beach has a unique crescent-shape and it opens out to the Hoary Head Mountains, Nawiliwili Bay, and the Harbor. The sand smoothly inclines and the bay is also protected to some extent, making the beach extremely popular with tourists as well as locals.
It is a great place for both, body surfing and windsurfing owing to the gentle wave action at the beach. It is also the best place for the beginning surfers. Facilities like surf lessons, beach volleyball, catamaran cruises, kayak tours, and sailboat rentals are made available to the visitors. Besides surfing, this lovely sand beach also offers good swimming, boogie boarding, and all facilities for picnicking.
A well-liked picnic area is situated at the adjacent Nawiliwili Park. Another major attraction is the Anchor Cove Shopping Center nearby. In order to reach this beautiful beach, you need to drive along Highway 50 to Highway 56 into Lihue and then, turn right on Rice Road at Mile Marker #0. The beach can be accessed from the Anchor Cove Shopping Center or via the Kauai Marriott Resort.
