Kauai

Kauai, popularly known as the Garden Isle, is the oldest and the northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain. Its breathtaking beauty, picturesque scenery, and closeness to the Garden of Eden make it one of the most magnificent islands in Hawaii. Kauai stretches out on the dazzling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean and can be reached by a short 20 minute flight from Honolulu. This 6 million year old island encompasses an area of 550 square-miles (1400 sq-km) and is bordered by the city of Lihue in the southeast; by Princeville and Hanalei in the northeast; and by Wailua, Kapaa, and Poipu Beach in the east.
Among all the islands in Hawaiian chain, Kauai has the highest number of beaches per mile of coastline. Moreover, 45% of its beaches are almost desolate and offer enough privacy and romantic seclusion. The Poipu Beach on the South shore is the largest and the safest of all beaches but is a bit crowded.
Kauai’s topography is unique and diverse. This small island, with its gleaming white sand lagoons, world class surf breaks, sapphire bays, and the spectacular Na Pali Coast, is truly a world in itself. Kauai is also known for its extraordinary natural heritage and its legendry Aloha spirit. It has also been featured in big box office hits like Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park
Kauai has a lot to offer to all kinds of people who visit the island. Several vacation lodging options like cottages and condominiums are made available to the travelers. Besides, the most popular tourist activity on the island is snorkeling. The gear proper for snorkeling can be either purchased or rented. An excellent beach safety guide, published by the Kauai Ocean Rescue council, is provided at most Kauai hotels and at the airport kiosks.
