Na Pali

na pali

Na Pali is one of the most pristine and spectacular coastlines in the whole world. This craggy coastline stretches to a distance of 15 miles (24 km) on the northwest shore of Kauai. However, most of the cliffs along this coastline are very steep and are inaccessible. As per a common belief, this spectacular coastline was the first area in Kauai to be inhabited by the ancient Hawaiians.

The panoramic cliffs along this coastline start at the Ke`e Beach, continue around the western and northern portion of Kauai, and end at the Polihale Beach. These cliffs rise to a height of about 1000 ft (300 m). Besides, there are a number of traditional and ‘hanging valleys’ along the coastline. There are only two ways in which one can access and explore numerous valleys of Na Pali, the spectacular coast, and the nearby Ni`ihau; one way is by boat and the other is by hiking an arduous foot trail that stretches to about 11 miles (18 km) from Ke`e Beach to Kalalau Valley.

The must-do Kauai activities at the Na Pali coast include rafting, hiking, kayaking, and sailing. Year-round trips are made available to the visitors on the rigid hull rafts and the sailing catamarans. The zodiac raft tours halt along the Na Pali coast for a swim, lunch, and snorkeling. A number of beautiful waterfalls, small beaches, and sea caves further enhance the beauty and uniqueness of the backdrop. The Na Pali coast can be reached via Highway 50 from the south and Highway 560 from the north.
