Puu O Kila Lookout

puu o kila lookout

The stunning Puu o Kila Lookout offers breathtaking views of the magnificent Kalalau Valley, Alakai Swamp, and of Mt. Waialeale. The latter is known to be the wettest place on planet earth. The peak of Mt. Waialeale is comparatively flat and is usually covered by clouds.  This Lookout is located at an elevation of nearly 4176 ft (1273 m) and is known for providing some of the best views in the Pacific. It is situated is in the Kalalau Valley, at the end of the road in the Kokee State Park. It is at this point that you can view the ocean and the sky blend together and clouds roll in and out of the spectacular valley. The best time to enjoy the kaleidoscopic effect that adds a mystical aura to the backdrop. The most favorite tourist activity at this place is bird watching. The scenic trails beyond this Lookout run into the beautiful Napali Coast. The road that leads to the less frequented Puu O Kila Lookout runs straight and flat for 0.5 mile (0.80 km) from the famous Kalalau Lookout.
