The famous Baldwin Home is located in Lahaina, West Maui. It was formerly owned by Dr. Dwight Baldwin. He and his family stayed in this house from the mid 1830's until 1868. At that time, this house served as a general center for missionary activity. It had a Christian reading room and a seaman’s chapel. Besides, the house also served as a medical office. The Baldwins had also maintained a magnificent garden around the house. This beautiful garden had native as well as introduced plants such as kou, kukui, figs, guava, grapes, and banana.
However, in the 1960’s, the home was renovated and converted to a museum by the Lahaina Restoration Foundation. This museum is situated at the corner of Dickenson Street and Front Street in downtown Lahaina and is easily accessible. The Museum is open to the public Daily. The admission for children is free, $ 3 for adults and $ 2 for the seniors.
