Kaunakakai Harbor, located in Molokai, is the longest wharf in Hawaii. It is the main harbor of the island and houses a number of charter boats that provide great opportunities for snorkeling, fishing, sight-seeing expeditions, and whale-watching.
The Kaunakakai Harbor is situated athwart the main highway from the main city of Kaunakakai. All ferry and commercial boats dock at this harbor and it is here that all vital goods are delivered to the island via barges and tug boats. The Kaunakakai wharf stretches to about ½ mile (0.8 km) off shore owing to the shallow mud flats along the coastline.
Besides being a hub for all boat transportation, the harbor is also known for its scenic beauty. The end of the wharf offers breathtaking views of the city, the south coast, and the cities of Kauai and Kahoolawe across the Kalohi Channel. A major attraction here is the unique stone foundation located behind the canoe club at the beginning of the wharf. This stone foundation was the spot for King Kamehameha V's summer retreat in Molokai. Traveling is offered by the Maui Princess ferries that move to and from Maui daily from this harbor.
