Lahaina is a scenic, magnificent port town located in West Maui. This city is lively, prosperous, and rich in history, beauty, and culture. Initially, Lahaina was a popular fishing village in Hawaii. Later, owing to its natural harbor, many tall ships from the west began sailing to the islands and soon, Lahaina became one of the most important port towns in Hawaii. The Lahaina Harbor is the primary location for the Lahaina-Lanai Ferry and the charter boats.

The city of Lahaina has several historical buildings that date back to the early years of the 1800’s. it is a great place for sightseeing. Several walking tours of the city are made available by different agencies. You can also choose to tour the place on your own. The self-guided maps can be obtained from the Old Courthouse Museum.

The most popular tourist attractions include the Brick Palace, the Banyan Tree Park, the Buddhist Church of the Shogun Mission, the Episcopal Cemetery, the Carthaginian Floating museum, the Hale Aloha Cemetery, the Jodo Mission, the Hale Pa`ahoa Prison, Lahaina Harbor, and the Lahaina Lighthouse. The other great sites and historical buildings in the city that are worth a visit include the Pioneer Inn, the Maria Lanakila Church, the missionary house of Rev. Baldwin, old Lahaina courthouse, and the Chinese Wo Hing Temple.

In short, Lahaina is a perfect holiday destination and a great place to visit, day or night. The town has several restaurants, hotels, shops, and Bed & Breakfasts to ensure a pleasant stay in the town. Lahaina has a number of public lots and therefore, parking is never a problem in this city. Lahaina is situated off Highway 30, also known as the Honoapiliani Highway, to the west of Maui.
