Maui

fleming beach, maui

Maui, encompassing an area of about 729 square miles (1888 sq. km.), is a spectacular Valley Isle. Named after the demigod who drew the Islands up from the vast ocean, Maui is known for its picturesque landscapes, pleasant climates, and diverse cultures. The major attraction here is the panoramic mountain of Haleakala, also known as the “House of the Sun”. The Haleakala Volcano is the highest peak in the area. The red, white, black, and gold sand beaches, the rustic Hana village, sacred pools, and the soaring sea cliffs further enhance the beauty of this sun-drenched Island.

Maui has a lot to offer to all people from different walks of life. There are 81 beautiful beaches on the island, 39 of which provide all public facilities. Haleakala National Park, 10 state parks, and 94 county parks are also well frequented by the tourists. Other popular tourist attractions include Ioa Valley State Park and the Maui Ocean Center. Ka`anapali and Kapalua in the west, and Makena and Wailea in the south are principal resorts in Maui. The biggest towns in Maui include Kahului, Wailuku, and Lahaina. Golf, swimming, and whale watching are two major tourist activities on the Island. Direct services from the US and Canada to Maui are provided by almost all the major airlines.
