Ali`i Beach, situated in North Oahu, is internationally acclaimed for swimming and surfing. Also known as the ‘Royal’ Beach, this beach has also been featured in ‘Baywatch Hawaii’, a popular show on television. Great opportunities for swimming are offered in a small protected bay area to the south of the Beach. Besides, Ali`i Beach is also known to have the best waves on the island. It is a great surfing site but strong undercurrents and swift tidal changes should be taken care of.
Besides, the surfers are also advised to be careful of the sharp coral, jagged rocks, and the wave action near the reef area. It is also recommended to abide by the rules and regulations and also obey the lifeguards, warning signs/flags, and postings. Many surf competitions like the Women’s Event in the Triple Crown are also organized here. This event is, in fact, the second-to-last World Qualifying Series contest of the season. A Sandy Beach, shallow reef, lifeguards, and good swimming opportunities, the Ali`i Beach has it all. Other facilities offered at the Beach include picnic areas, restrooms, phones, and showers.
