Haleiwa Beach Park, situated on the Oahu Island, measures 250 ft (76.2 m) in length and 100 ft (30.48 m) in width. The warm, light brown sand on the Beach is friendly and easy on the eyes. The sand also makes the Beach unique as most of the other Oahu beaches consist of white sand formed of seashells and coral. The Haleiwa Beach Park also offers breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset.
The Park offers many possibilities and is just a short distance from eating, sightseeing, and shopping in the historic Haleiwa Town. It has a seawall towards its eastern end and large grassy fields to host carnivals, festivals, and athletic activities such as soccer and Frisbee. In addition, the Park features two full length volley ball courts and two basketball courts. However, humidity and heat may be the biggest obstacles for those interested in athletics. Other facilities made available at the Park include a children’s playground, picnic tables, plenty of shaded areas, showers, bathrooms, jet skiing rentals, and a 35-stall parking lot. However, there are no lifeguards on this Beach.
The Haleiwa Beach Park is also known for surfing. Some of the world’s best surfers can be watched in action at one of the many annual tournaments held here. The waves are almost flat, nearly 0-2 ft (0-0.6 m) in the summer season. However, waves as high as 5-10 ft (1.5 -3.0 m) rise in the winter. This Beach Park is the best place for family picnics and beach activities, and is certainly a worthy day-in-the-country destination.
