Royal Hawaiian Hotel, situated on the island of Oahu, in Honolulu, Hawaii, is one of the first hotels built in Waikiki. It is popularly known as the Pink Palace of the Pacific and is one of the flagship hotels in Hawaii tourism. It has also been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was the former Western White House, the residence of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Besides, it is also well known for its bar, which invented the Shirley Temple Cocktail. The Royal Hawaiian Hotel was established on February 1, 1927 by Captain William Matson. However, it was sold to the Sheraton Corporation in 1959.
This luxurious hotel is a perfect holiday destination for Hawaii honeymoons and family vacations. It has established itself as an icon of luxury and romance and is the best place for those who are seeking elegance from a bygone era. This magnificent, six-storey Hawaiian Hotel was designed by Warren and Wetmore of New York City. The architecture of the building is highly influenced by the Arabian movies of Rudolph Valentino. The Hotel had 400 rooms of Spanish and Moorish styles in 1920s. The unique pink color of the Hotel was chosen owing to a popular American obsession of the era. The Royal Hawaiian Hotel attracts a non-stop flood of tourists from the mainland United States every year. In fact, it serves as home to the early Hollywood stars and the most influential statesman of the world.
