Boise

Capital of the Idaho State, the City of Boise is ideally located on either side of the Boise River, at the foothills of the Rocky mountain range and within its boundaries are beautiful lakes and desert lands. Additionally, green landscapes, mountainous terrain and waterfronts offer an enviable range of recreation activities like kayaking, hunting, skiing, camping, river rafting and fishing.

A large amount of economic activity and well known companies are concentrated in Boise, also the most populous city of Idaho State. Boise State University, the largest university of Idaho is also one of the reputed landmarks of the city.

The many appealing locales in the city of Boise include parks, museums, gardens and interpretive centers. The famous Julia Davis Park along Boise River and the Kathryn Albertson Park situated in the heart of the city are much admired destinations. For those looking at a calm and relaxing retreat the lush greenery of these parks complete with ponds, lakes, fountains and gardens make for a great jaunt. Another important attraction is the Boise River Observatory that showcases the unique wildlife found on the Boise River. Also the World Center for Birds of Prey located near Snake River is a globally acclaimed center working on the preservation of endangered bird species.

Included in the acclaimed gardens of the United States is the Idaho Botanical Garden, which has about nine theme gardens including iris gardens and the exclusive Chinese Scholar's Garden. Other places of interest are the Old Idaho State Penitentiary, a century old prison listed in the National Register of Historic Places and the Basque Museum and Cultural Center highlighting the culture and history of the immigrant Basque community. Shopping in the public plaza named The Grove is a thrilling experience.

Day trips to the ancient mining hub of Idaho City, the ghost town of Silver City and the famous retreat of Warm Springs Resort are popular outings.  Boise by itself offers enormous treasures to explore, while the surrounding destinations add to its importance.
