Snake River Gorge

snake river gorge

Snake River Gorge, situated in the Magic Valley region of southern Idaho, is a large canyon formed by the Snake River. It is a popular site of an unsuccessful attempt by Evel Knievel, to jump it in the Sky cycle X-2. A major attraction in the area is the Perrine Bridge, which crosses the Canyon immediately north of Twin Falls. At certain places, the Gorge is 0.25 miles (0.40 km) wide and 500 ft (150 m) deep. The famous Shoshone Falls are situated nearly 5 miles (8 km) east of the Perrine Bridge in the Canyon.

The Magic Valley’s first agricultural operations on the Snake River Canyon floor were founded by I. B. Perrine in the late 1800s. At present, the Snake River Gorge has become a major tourist destination. It features many beautiful parks and golf courses. It is rich in natural beauty and is certainly worth a visit.
