Three Island Crossing State Park, situated on the Snake River at Glenns Ferry, is one of the famous tourist spots on the Oregon Trail. It also houses the Oregon Trail History and Education Center, which offers a great opportunity to the visitors to learn about the Native American history and pioneer emigrants. The Three Island Crossing State Park is situated at an elevation of 2484 feet (757 m). However, it is quite difficult to cross the dangerous Snake River upon reaching the Three Island Ford. It is always safe to endure the dry, rocky route along the south bank of the River. Self-guided tours are made available in the Park to see the replica wagons and other exhibits displayed here. People who are willing to have an unusual camping experience can choose to stay overnight in one of the teepees.
The main recreational activities in the Park include fishing, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and camping. The State Park also provides a full-service campground, a fascinating interpretive center, historical programs, and many picnic areas for families or groups. The main amenities at the campground include restroom facilities, central showers, water, and electricity. The State Park is certainly worth a visit at least once.
