Tubbs Hill Park

tubbs hill park

For those who are adventurous at heart, Idaho presents one of the most original wilderness regions in the form of Tubbs Hill Park in Coeur d'Alene. A peninsula region carpeted with thick pine forests, Tubbs Hill Park is spread over an area of about 135 acres and has minimum modernization. Accessible only by foot, even bicycles are not allowed entry.

Named after Tony A. Tubbs, a German immigrant and the first Justice of Peace, the first hotel in Coeur d'Alene was built by him. The entire park area is public property comprising of territory that was acquired in four installments since 1936 by the people of Coeur d'Alene.

One of the prime contributors to the beauty of Tubbs Hill is the largely underdeveloped stretches of land that have their touch of wilderness intact. Several scenic trails with varied degrees of difficulty run in the region with the popular trail being the self guided two mile loop that passes through historical locations, beaches, caves and enchanting sceneries. Nature walks are extremely common and one of the most participated outdoor activities. The popular Coeur d'Alene Resort golf course covered in lush green can be viewed from the trails and makes for a stunning view.

Bird watchers have an extremely eventful trip spotting the spectacular bald eagle, osprey, pied-billed grebe and species of mergansers.
