Twin Falls

blue lakes boulevard, twin falls

Twin Falls is the largest city of the Twin Falls County, Idaho and of the Idaho’s Magic Valley region. It is also the seventh largest city in the state. Twin Falls serves as a regional commercial center for northeastern Nevada and south-central Idaho. The City has been named after Twin Falls, a namesake waterfall in the area, which has been significantly reduced from its original state by the Milner Dam several miles upstream. The Twin Falls are nearly 125 ft (38.1 m) high but they totally dry out during the peak of the agricultural season. The city of Twin Falls is divided into many sections and neighborhoods.

The original 1904 town-site of the city is occupied by the Downtown Twin Falls neighborhood. The two main commercial streets in the area include the Shoshone Street and the Main Avenue. All the main professional offices are situated on the Shoshone Street. The southern section of this area has been converted to a small retail area called the “Olde Town Twin Falls”. The Downtown neighborhood also has some of the oldest houses in the city. It is also home to the Magic Valley Arts Council.

The main commercial road in Twin Falls is the Blue Lakes Boulevard, which runs north-south through the city, starting at the Perrine Bridge. The intersection of Blue Lakes Boulevard and Addison Avenue is popularly known as “Five Points”. Other main neighborhoods in the city include the Presidents Streets neighborhood, the South Park neighborhood, the Eastern Twin Falls region, and the College of Southern Idaho.
