The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, situated in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is well known for its extensive collection of over 5,600 works of art by different artists of different eras, from the Roman antiquity to the present. The Museum mainly aims at engaging and educating the community in visual arts through various collections, exhibitions, and educational programs. The Museum encompasses an area of over 63,000 square feet (5800 square meters) and houses the world’s largest collection of works by Grant Wood and Marvin Cove. Besides, it also holds the famous Tom and Nan Riley collection of ancient Roman portrait busts, a print collection from the 15th century donated by Peter O. Stamatas, and a unique compilation of works by Mauncio Lasansky.
The collections at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art emphasizes mainly on the American art, particularly the first half of the 20th century. The Museum also presents a wide array of exhibitions throughout the year. In addition, the Museum also features a unique selection of programs, including fundraising dinners, Family Fun Days, lectures, and interactive workshops, for visitors of all age groups.
