The National Czech & Slovak Museum, situated in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is internationally acclaimed for its permanent and changing exhibits reflecting the fine Czech and Slovak folk art and costumes, political history, fine art, maps and militaria. The NCSML features two main exhibit galleries, complete with a number of items that depict the history of the Czech and Slovak people. The most impressive exhibit at the Museum is a wonderfully restored Czech immigrant home of 1880. The Museum also offers a variety of programs every year.
The Museum houses a library, which holds an extensive collection of books and archival materials about Czech and Slovak history and culture. The Library mainly aims at collecting, preserving, and making available the published and unpublished resources by and about the Czech and Slovak people. In addition, a unique collection of Czech & Slovak gift items, including ornaments, books, Bohemian garnets and crystals, is offered by the Museum Store. This Museum & Library makes a sincere effort to advance the understanding of the impact that these people had on the political, cultural, and economic development of America and the world.
