Mid-America All Indian Center

The Mid-America All Indian Center is one of the popular museums in the city of Wichita. Established in 1976, the museum is a tribute to the Native American Tribes and has attractive displays of both traditional and contemporary artifacts. Its extensive exhibits pertaining to the wide range of Native American cultures, attracts history buffs as well as commoners.
Among the most talked about displays are the Indian Artist Walk of Fame which has a line of petite gardens designed as a tribute to acclaimed Native American artists and the 44 feet tall Indian sculpture christened “The Keeper of the Plains”. Though the key focus is on the regional tribes and their cultures, Mid-America All Indian Center also showcases art and craft belonging to other tribes from all over the USA.
Another attraction is the unique "Gallery of Nations", which hosts flags belonging to all the Native American Nations within the US borders that are recognized by the US government.
Presently closed for public, The Center has a living museum called the Heritage Village replicated in the exact lines of a 1850's Indian village and the then existing lifestyle. Also find a kiva designated for special events and a separate area for social services.
Mid-America All Indian Center is a preferred venue in Wichita for gatherings, community events, celebrations and trade shows among others.
