Breaux Bridge, popularly known as the ‘Crawfish Capital of the World’, is situated in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. The present-day city was first bought in 1771 by Acadian pioneer Firmin Breaux. It was in 1799 that the first footbridge was first constructed across the Bayou Teche. The city is also well known for the unusual listing of nicknames of people in the telephone directory.

The City of Breaux Bridge was home to a number of famous personalities, including Branford Marsalis, Sonny Landreth, Domanick Williams, Ali Landry, and Hunter Hayes. Today, this city is a major tourist destination along the Bayou Teche. The main points of tourist interest in the City include the Poche’s Market, the Coffee Break, Mulate’s Cajun Restaurant, Mama Arielle’s House, Breaux Bridge Gay Bar, Pecan Villa, and the Café des Amis Cajun Restaurant.
