Nottoway MansionThe Nottoway Plantation is one of the largest plantations along the Plantation Alley in Louisiana. The Nottoway Mansion, situated to the south of Baton Rouge, is a magnificent historic home that stands at the edge of sugarcane fields, overlooking the spectacular Mississippi River. It was built in 1859 for John Hampden Randolph. It encompasses an area of 53,000 square feet (4900 square meters) and features the Greek revival architecture. It is, in fact, the largest plantation home in the South. Today, the Nottoway Mansion had been converted to a popular bed & breakfast. It houses a 250-seat dining hall and 15 elegant guest rooms. The major attraction in the mansion is the 250-seat Randolph Hall, well-known for its delicious Cajun classic dishes and cocktails. The room rates include a guided tour of the Mansion, a welcome refreshment beverage, and a full plantation breakfast. The Bridal Suite, on the ground floor of the boys’ wing, features a private outdoor pool, an adjoining parlor, a breakfast area with a sleeper sofa, and a Victorian queen bed. The Randolph Suite, on the other hand, is on the third floor of the mansion. This two-room suite overlooks the Mississippi River and features a four poster double bed with an adjoining sitting room. Nottoway is also made available for organizing special events, particularly for weddings. Nottoway Mansion is one of the very few antebellum mansions that survived the Civil War. It has also been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
