Great River Bluffs State Park

In Winona, Minnesota, find the spectacular Great River Bluffs State Park spread on 3600 acres of sedimentary rock region. Noted for the stunning views of the Mississippi River presented from its blufftops, the goat prairies, the breathtaking fall colors, numerous bird species, camping shelters, scenic picnic spots and rare species of attractive plants and trees, Great River Bluffs State Park delights visitors with its distinctive landscape.
Bird watchers are especially thrilled to spot eagles, hawks, waterfowl, ruffed grouse, coyotes, and a variety of songbirds among others. During summer the blooming goldenrods, asters and coneflowers add further beauty to the surroundings.
Known as the O. L. Kipp State Park until the late 1990s, Great River Bluffs State Park was renamed to reflect the unique resources held by this region. Two State Natural Areas within the state park named as the King's and Queen's Bluff sustain several rare plant species. King’s Bluff Nature Trial is popular with hikers, while Queen’s Bluff is accessible only to researchers.
In order to preserve the delicate flora and fauna habitats and to retain the wilderness spirit, limited development has been carried out within the premises. However, tourists have all facilities for comfortable accommodation and stay, bike-in sites, drive-in sites, skiing amenities, playground and hiking trials to guarantee a great holiday any time of the year.
