“Teaching the world about wolves” - Nothing can better describe the International Wolf Center in Ely Minnesota than their motto. Established by the celebrated wolf biologist, Dr. David Mech in 1985, International Wolf Center has been operational since 1993. A visit to the center demonstrates that this unique organization not only offers valuable education about wolves and everything related to them, but also succeeds in leaving visitors enthralled and awe struck by the world of wolves.

Spread out on 17,000 square feet facility, the International Wolf Center has regular and special programs all round the year. Included in the daily program schedule is the Wolves and Humans exhibit that depicts the role of humans in the future of wolves. Visitors can also watch the ambassador wolves eat, play, hunt and converse, in their habitats. Also volunteers explain about the lives of wolves, their habitat, the steps undertaken to protect wolf populations, their role in the ecosystem and the misconceptions associated with wolves. Children have fun in the Little Wolf den designed specially for them.

Additionally there are Wolf Seminars, Educator Workshops and Learning workshops that combine education with recreation. Group visits are extremely popular with visitors as it has flexible options. Ranging from a couple of hours to a whole week, this program can be designed as per group specifications of budget and tastes. It includes observing the ambassador wolves, studying some great exhibits, on site programs, field trip and specialty activities like dog sledging and scenic flights among others.
