Mayo Clinic

One of the most respected names in the global healthcare industry; Mayo Clinic in Rochester – Minnesota, evolved from the practice of Dr. William Worrall Mayo in the 1880’s and rose to fame under the management of his sons, Dr. William James Mayo and Dr. Charles Horace Mayo. Later famous medical practitioners like Dr. Augustus Stinchfield, Dr. Henry Stanley Plummer and Dr. Graham along with three others joined the Clinic as partners and added value to the establishment.
Mayo Clinic moved to the Plummer building in 1928, which was designed by Mayo Clinic partner Dr. Plummer, who is considered by many as the pioneer of modern medical systems and practices. Today on the Mayo Clinic campus, the Plummer Building on account of its architectural brilliance is a huge attraction.
Tourists visiting the Mayo Clinic will be shown around the hospital and can also study and understand the prized management procedures and practices followed by the hospital authorities, which set new benchmarks in the healthcare industry. There are educative programs to shed light on the origin of the Clinic, its growth to fame, the architectural account of the building and lives of the founders. Mayo Clinic also manages the Saint Mary's Hospital and Rochester Methodist Hospital and runs a medical school. Also, the Mayo Clinic today has hospitals in Jacksonville, Florida and Phoenix, Arizona.
