Sounds Good to Me! - Music In Minnesota"Sounds Good to Me! - Music In Minnesota" is a music exhibit which covers every type of music in the state, from home parlor to happening nightclub music. The music blends culture, emotion, sound, artistry and social experience. “Sounds Good to Me: Music In Minnesota”, is a kaleidoscopic exhibition located at the Minnesota History Center. The exhibit gives visitors an experience of the wide variety of musical events and activities in the history of this state and it depicts the ways in music floods the lives of Minnesotans. The exhibit covers 6200 square feet (580 square meters). "Sounds Good to Me! - Music In Minnesota" is one of the most ambitious exhibits The History Center has ever produced. The exhibit was opened in October 2000. The exhibit includes a home parlor, a high school band room, a ballroom, a DJ booth, a concert hall, a tent, and an instrument store. One can hear the stories of Minnesotans for whom music was a great source of change in their lives, and hence, one can understand how music transforms one’s life. Florence Blood and a St. Paul girl can be seen seated at her piano in 1912 in the home parlor section. The night clubs of the exhibit provide a place for a series of musicians to perform here during the exhibit's five-year run. |
