Certainly one of the most happening places in Minnesota, Uptown Minneapolis is the name given to the commercially and residentially vibrant region in South Minneapolis. With Lake Calhoun forming the western boundary and Dupont street on the eastern side, Uptown Minneapolis especially the juncture of Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue is one of the most lively and thriving business expanses in the entire state.

Calhoun Square, an indoor shopping center built in 1980’s is the most popular landmark. Uptown Minneapolis also has a lively cultural environment with numerous musicians and artists residing as well as performing in the area. “Uptown Art Fair”, the annual art event in August draws large number of artists display and sell numerous artifacts like sculptures, pottery, jewelry, paintings etc.

Youngsters find the place truly happening all year round as a wide range of restaurants, pubs, shopping arcades complete with trendy clothing stores, music and book shops, theatres, café’s and eateries deck the area.

The upkeep and maintenance of the region is undertaken by the Uptown Association, which started with a mere 10 business owners as members. Today With over 175 members the association is involved in the promotion of Uptown Minneapolis as a one of its kind business region that is attractive for both newer investments and clientele.
