A one of its kind destination, the Cottonlandia Museum in Mississippi, is a tribute to the prosperous cotton agriculture that abounds in the Mississippi Delta. However there is a lot more to the museum that just cotton production as the history, art, archeology and animal life of the delta region, are all well preserved here and aesthetically captured through the numerous displays.
Exhibits that find place in the Cottonlandia Museum include a wide collection of tools in the agricultural section such as plows, pottery, mule hames, and blacksmith gear among others. In the art section visitors will be spellbound by both the vastness and the quality of items on display. A large chunk of this collection has been acquired from the event named Cottonlandia Fine Arts Competition organized by the museum biannually. In the archeology segment, loaned L.B. Jones Trust, find an attractive collection of Native American artifacts – especially the bead collection, relics, and photographs of excavations. Additionally find in the museum extensive compilation of military history and antiques. The museum has both permanent and temporary exhibits section, with the displays in the latter being rotated every two months.
Children have great fun in the Mississippi swamp diorama and the natural science section. Friendly volunteers present in the museum premises offer all assistance with regard to the exhibits and the historical importance of the collection at Cottonlandia Museum.
