Elvis Presley Birthplace

elvis presley birthplace

Tupelo, Mississippi is the hometown of the King of Rock and Roll - Elvis Presley. The Elvis Presley Birthplace in Tupelo is a two-room home where the legend was born on 8th January 1935 and from where he commenced his magical musical journey.

A State of Mississippi landmark and part of the 15 acre Elvis Presley Park, The Elvis Presley Birthplace, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the entire state. Here visitors can actually step into the room where baby Elvis was born and look around the home where he was raised until he was 13. In 1948, Elvis moved with his family to Memphis in Tennessee.

Surrounding the home of Elvis, find the interesting “Walk of Life” inaugurated in 2003. Here there are 42 granite blocks dated from 1935 to 1977, each depicting a year of the life of Elvis. Further in the garden, find the mesmerizing bronze statue of Elvis as a boy called “Elvis at 13”. Another part of the outdoor display is the water feature called "The Fountain of Life” that narrates the life of Elvis in Tupelo. Also the “Story Wall” that has boyhood tales of Elvis neatly inscribed and the display of the green Plymouth of 1939 make owned by his family bring the audiences close to the legend they adore. A gift shop, a wide parking lot, a walkway system and a picnic spot add to the beauty of the ambience.

Visitors can drive to some of the most important locations in the life of Elvis by taking the Elvis Presley Self-Guided tour. This tour covers his community church, first school, site of his concerts in 1956 and 1957 and the shop where he picked up his first guitar among other places.

No wonder millions of music lovers from all over the globe walk into Elvis Presley Birthplace to experience the life of their hero and walk out with memories for a lifetime.
