Gulf Coast

gulf coast

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is comprised of Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties, all positioned on the Gulf of Mexico. Specifically, the term Gulf Coast is used for the towns in these three counties that are part of the gulf coastline.

Historically, the Gulf Coast centuries ago was inhabited by Biloxi Indians, Frenchmen and later by Spanish settlers. Several historic homes, museums, art galleries, and antebellum mansions are situated on the Gulf Coast, providing ample scope to delve into the history of the region.

With charming white sand beaches spread across the coast, Gulf Coast is most admired for the numerous relaxing beach activities presented. From moonlight picnics, sunbathing, water skiing, deep sea fishing or simply walking on the shores, there are hordes of pleasurable fare lined up for visitors. Gulfport and Biloxi area beaches are the most popular with tourists.

Additionally with numerous cultural attractions, state of art golf courses, abundant outdoor activities, mouth-watering cuisine and great shopping destinations, Gulf Coast is a vacationer’s delight. Second only to Las Vegas, the Mississippi Gulf coast has several stunning casinos and is a popular night life jaunt. Theme parks, adventure sports and stage shows add to the excitement of visiting the Gulf Coast.

Hurricane Katrina damaged the beachfront and the tourist destinations are on their way to recovery.
