If you are a tourist looking forward to visit the historic City of Natchez in Mississippi, then it has to be either during Fall or Spring. For, it is in these seasons that the near forty majestic antebellum homes in Natchez, including those closed for public during other times of the year; open their doors to welcome visitors from across the globe. The opulent furnishings, clothes, paintings and the other riches that are housed within these structures are to be seen to be believed.

The Spring Pilgrimage runs every year for about a month and a half and the hostesses of these historic homes, all dressed in ancient costumes, welcome visitors to three different mansions every morning and afternoon. In 2008, the Spring Pilgrimage commences on March 8 and runs until April 12, 2008. Night time is also filled with fun and excitement as there are live shows including the popular “The Historic Natchez Pageant” complete with period costumes, old-fashioned dances, and historic scenes.

The Fall Pilgrimage has 18 antebellum homes all private residences thrown open for tourists for a period of two weeks. In 2008 the Fall Pilgrimage starts on September 27 and runs until October 11.
