The city of Natchez, Mississippi lies on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River and is part of Adam’s County. Natchez is considered to be one of the oldest settlements along the Mississippi river with ancestors of present day Natchez Indians inhabiting the region as early as 1200 AD. French, British and American settlers occupied the expanse from early 17th century. The abundant natural resources in the region promoted agriculture, with cotton farming bringing in rich fortunes for the settlers. The magnificent mansions that were built by these rich traders are indicators of their opulent past.

Some of the most important city attractions are lined up in the downtown region. From the famous Trinity Episcopal Church built in 1822 to the stunning 1841 St. Mary's Basilica, there are several important structures such as The Natchez Museum of African-American History and the ancient Stratton Chapel Gallery, all popular tourist attractions.

Having to its credit the largest number of Antebellum and Historic Homes in the entire USA, Natchez has some exciting tours that cover the architectural marvels of the bygone days. The historic Melrose estate, situated at the Natchez National Historic Park, The House on Ellicott Hill and the captivating ancient home “The Parsonage", are among the notable buildings in the city.

The immensely popular Natchez Trace Parkway, which is a breathtaking trail that passes from Tennessee to Natchez en route Florence in Alabama, Tupelo and Jackson in Mississippi, is a big draw for tourists from around the globe.
