Oxford City, one of the reputed educational hubs in the USA, is part of the State of Mississippi. Incorporated as a town in the year 1837 and named after the town of Oxford in England, this scenic city is home to the University of Mississippi (nicknamed Ole Miss) which is an important city landmark ever since it commenced its operations in the year 1848.

Oxford is the county seat of Lafayette County and has been attracting migrants on account of its quality living conditions that are also affordable. Retirees consider it to be an ideal destination for a relaxed living.

All round the year Oxford has some exciting event just round the corner. The Double Decker Festival, The Oxford Conference for the Book, the Oxford Film Festival, the Yoknapatawpha Summer Writers' Workshop, Mid-town Farmers' Market, the numerous sporting events and the Annual Faulkner and Yoknapatawpha Conference among others ensure that month on month Oxford is alive and kicking.
