In the City of Natchez that is world famous for its antebellum structures and historic homes, find Rosalie Mansion, a Federal style building situated across the majestic Mississippi River.
Owned and managed by a non-profit service organization named the Mississippi State Society Daughters of the American Revolution since 1938, Rosalie Mansion attracts visitors all round the year. However the special Pilgrimage tours during spring and fall bring in the largest number of tourists. Regular tour packages that operate all year round include a trip to the much admired Bicentennial Rosalie Mansion Gardens, located adjacent to the Mansion.
Rosalie Mansion stands apart from the other antebellum homes as it is among the few ancient homes open to tourists that are not only furnished but have all the interiors and household articles - clothes and antique dolls among others - used by the original inhabitants intact. The Mansion has wide galleries and is surrounded by an old-fashioned cypress picket fence, all adding to its primeval look. The mansion is available on hire for weddings, annual events and other celebrations, including the famous “Great Mississippi River Balloon Competition and Festival" held each October.
Also visit the Rosalie Mansion Gift Shop, to pick up some interesting memorabilia related to the antebellum house and its prized possessions.
