Jefferson City

jefferson city

Named after the illustrious Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the USA, Jefferson City is the capital for the State of Missouri. Located in the heart of Missouri, with the majestic Missouri river traversing its terrain, Jefferson City was touched upon by Lewis and Clarke in their historical expedition.

Located on the banks of Missouri, Jefferson City has a distinctive beauty and the ancient monuments that decorate the cityscape add to the natural attractions. Tourists find in this region abundant historical treasures and the centrally located domed capitol building is cynosure of all eyes. Built in 1917 the Capitol adds beauty to the city skyline while its interiors decorated with paintings by Thomas Hart Benton and artifacts from the past make for an impressive display. Also, other major attractions are the Governors Mansion, the Jefferson Building, the Jefferson Landing State Historic Site, the Truman Building, the State Office Building and Supreme Court Building, all located in close proximity to the capitol.

Anyone touring the Jefferson City should without fail visit the Museum of Missouri Military History, which admits everyone free of cost - all year round. The museum has exhibits that shed light on the lives of soldiers from Missouri who significantly contributed to the nation’s armed forces.

The Natural Connections Wellness Center and Spa is another destination in Jefferson City that has bloomed into a tourist hub. With numerous luxury packages to relax your mind and body, this world class spa is a great place to rejuvenate.
