Silver Dollar City

silver dollar city

A favored vacation destination for thousands of families, Branson in Missouri has numerous amusement and theme parks. However, the Silver Dollar City which takes tourists back in time – America in the 1880’s – is the most adored.

Spread on 70 acres, the Silver Dollar City theme park has the ancient Marvel Cave - a National Natural Landmark and is owned by Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation. The park had a modest launch in 1960, starting with a church, five shops and a log cabin. Today thousands of visitors pour in here to enjoy the more than 25 electrifying rides (including the Giant Swing, Wildfire - the cobra rolling-coaster), near 40 live entertainment shows (the popular Choctaw Charlie's Frontier Follies), several delectable dining spots, over 50 craft shops, special seasonal events and festivities among others.

An exciting shopping experience awaits all visitors as they can actually see artists at work in the craft village and pick up some rare American artifacts. Nights come alive with pulsating music, spectacular fireworks and laser shows. A number of events are celebrated at Silver Dollar City with special fests for children and families, and of course the acclaimed Bluegrass, National Harvest and Christmas festivals.

Open all year round except for January and February, Silver Dollar city has turned into one of the prime reasons for visiting Branson.
