St. Joseph

Missouri’s seventh largest city, St. Joseph has a population just above 74,000 and is part of Buchanan County. Historically the city is important as it was here that the acclaimed Pony Express started operations in 1860. Also, in the year 1882, the infamous Jesse James was shot dead at his home in St. Joseph.

The present day cosmopolitan St Joseph, has great deal to offer from its historical past. From the Pony Express Museum which sheds light on the origin, operation and decline of the Pony Express to the Albrecht-Kemper Art Museum that holds some of the best Midwest art collections from the 18th to the 20th century, St Joseph has a wide range of historical sites that bring alive the past.
