american jazz museum

The American Jazz Museum situated in the historic 18th & Vine District in Kansas City, Missouri, is dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the American Jazz Music to the public. It is at this place where a number of Jazz masters such as Big Toe Turner, Charlie Parker, and Count Basie defined the sounds of the 1920s, 1930s, and the 1940s. The Museum attracts a number of students, scholars, musicians, and fans, who come here to enjoy America’s best music, or to learn about the legends and honor their legacy. The American Jazz Museum brings to life the sights and sounds of a uniquely American art form.

The Museum holds wonderful exhibits on Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, and Louis Armstrong. Some of the most impressive items on display include various Down Beat awards and a saxophone owned by Charlie Parker. The Museum also features many other interactive exhibits and films, the Changing Gallery, educational programs, the Blue Room, and the Gem Theater. The Blue Room situated on the grounds of the Jazz Museum is a popular jazz club. It resonates with the mesmerizing sounds of Kansas City Jazz, four nights a week. Gem Theater, situated across the street, is a 500-seat performing arts center hosting jazz music. The American Jazz Museum is the only museum dedicated to the American Jazz music and is a “must-see” for all those who visit the city.
